Legal Editing - The business opportunity
Who are we?
We, at Nachson Consulting, are in the processing
of developing people like you to become world class back-office legal researchers
catering to the lawyer-community world-wide. We currently provide legal content to Indian
legal websites/portals in our speciality area of Indirect taxation covering the taxing
statutes like Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax. Our long term plans include
extending our services to global legal portals.
The Concept
We assume that you have a basic degree in law or have worked in a law firm, and some exposure to taxation (though this is not mandatory) and are willing to work fulltime with us. Felicity with the keyboard; with some basic typing skills is preferred -- as your output would depend on your speed of typing.
We are currently working on a legal product which requires us to prepare case summaries/ headnotes for all reported Supreme Court, High Court and Tribunal judgments in the area of Indian Indirect taxation statutes (Customs, Central Excise and service tax). For this we require a team of skilled people with a sound grounding in law (preferably with an exposure to taxation statutes) who are adept at reading the full reported judgment from a published journal and making a concise and lucid summary of the same.
The Work-Flow
The published journals, containing the judgements (for which we require the summaries) will be given to you. Corresponding to each published journal we have a text file which contains the templates for the judgements contained in the journals for which the summaries have to be written. This text-file will contain formats for all the cases reported in the journal, only with the case summary field, being left blank. This blank field has to be filled up by you with the case summary after reading the judgment. After completing the case summaries for all the judgments contained in the journal, you submit the completed text-file.
We proof-read the completed summaries, and rate the quality of work done by you.
